Denesse Brown Foley is the fifth child of eight children born to Percy Lee Brown, Jr. and Geraldine Malinda Brown. Denesse attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in 1977 majoring in Early Childhood Education. 

Denesse has been married to Warren Foley for 31 years. Warren attended Akron University majoring in Applied Mathematics. Denesse and Warren have imparted the importance of obtaining an education on their two children, Lindsay and Christopher. Lindsay graduated from the University Of North Carolina School Of Medicine and is an OB-GYN resident in Charleston, SC. Christopher is a student at the University of North Carolina majoring in Computer Science.

Denesse says: “I can truly say that I am blessed to have had two parents who taught me the importance of education.  It is the very same values that my husband and I were able to pass on to our children. The best advice that I can give to our youth today is that hard work really does pay off in the end.”
